OB appointment - 31 weeks

I had an OB appointment today so thought I'd update (again!). We have appointments every two weeks now which makes it seem like time is flying even faster. I guess that's been the theme of this blog so far - other than food - "Where has the time gone??" :)

Anyway the appointment was great. I made sure to keep track of the questions I wanted to ask, since the appointments are so quick and I usually forget or don't have a chance to get them in. Here's a quick 'status update':
- my blood pressure is great
- I think my weight is good (she never comments but I only gained 1 lb since last time, phew! Thanks to Mom making me healthy lunches and going for walks :))
- I am measuring exactly as I should be, 31" (fundal height)
- doppler sounded great. Actually what she said was, "Great - sounds like a baby!" lol

The questions I asked were:
1. When should I start looking for a pediatrician? A: Now.
2. Can you recommend any? A: Yep, ask the receptionist for a list.
3. When do you start doing internal exams? A: Not until 39 weeks, or if you're having lots of contractions. Before that, in her opinion, is silly and unecessary and it's basically only old doctors who do regular internals before that. (lol)
4. Can you tell what position the baby is in? * I didn't actually get to ask this, as she was already checking by the time I thought of it, hehe. But, good news, the baby is head down! As I suspected with the hiccups, but good to have confirmation. :)

We go for our 1-day birthing class and hospital tour on April 15. I'm excited to see what the floor and rooms are like! We registered for a private room so hopefully they have one available when I go into labour. I think the class & tour will make things seem THAT much more real though - and I'll really have to kick things into high gear to get ready for baby :D

30 week update

Here I am, 30 weeks, and I can hardly believe it. Less than 10 weeks until our due date. Is that right? How can that be?? I'm so excited to meet this little person, but I'll admit I feel a little overwhelmed at all the things we need to do in the next 10 (or fewer) weeks to get ready for baby.

I've been at "Nonna & Bopa"'s for over a week and it's been very relaxing, away from the craziness and stress of house renovations. But, I'm excited to get back to Sean in Toronto and hopefully *fingers crossed* move into the house before too long...

The baby has been incredibly active for the past few days, kicking up a storm and really making his presence known. I love it... but dancing on my bladder is certainly not encouraged (baby G, are you listening?). He seems most active between 9:30 - 10:30 pm, which of course I'm hoping is not a sign of things to come. I had a fun time the other night when I put a bottle of Gaviscon - always within easy reach - on my belly, and watched it 'dance' and nearly get kicked across the room. Hee!

Thankfully I've been sleeping well - probably the last time for the next 18 years or so ;) Maybe it's all the knitting Nonna and I have been doing. We've decided - after I learned to knit my first dish cloth a week ago - to knit a blanket together for baby G.

And by together, I mean Nonna making 3-4 squares a night, and me making one, taking it apart because I did it wrong, and doing it again. I'm not sure if learning to knit can be considered 'nesting' but without a house to clean, it's as close as I'm getting for now!

Finally, here's another picture of my new-found domestication (knitting), and the expanding House of Baby G...

The List...

Hey everyone, long time no post! Shame on me.

Sarah sent me a list today of things we need to do to get ready for Baby G's grand arrival. The list had all sorts of stuff on it -- from simple things (like stocking up on on onesies and diapers) to more time consuming things (like our all day child birth class and painting the crib) to more stuff that I'm sure we'll agonize over (like picking the bedding set and stroller). It was arranged by weekend in count-down fashion for the next 11 weeks.

Now in her note she made sure to mention that she knew we had a lot on the go and this list was meant to help and not stress me out further. I understand where she's coming from (we did take a pretty huge bite out of the busy cookie these last few months) but for some reason looking over this list induced very little stress in me. In fact it made me giddy.

I have to say that, despite everything that is or has been going on, I am super excited and happy that Baby G's on the way. As far as I am concerned his timing couldn't be better.

Anyhoo, just thought I'd share.

26 week ultrasound pic

Here's the latest ultrasound picture, from 26 weeks. It looks to me like he has his eyes open... what do you think? He's turning into a handsome little dude in my humble opinion! :)

Check out Baby G kicking!

I made a little movie clip of Baby G kicking my belly. I was just playing around with the movie maker, really, but you can sort-of see where my belly 'jumps' with each kick.

Baby G Kicking - 26 weeks

Click on the link above to see the movie. You have to look hard for the kicks, but they're there :) Enjoy!
